Delamain Millésime 1995 is a rare vintage cognac from Grande Champagne. Very few cognacs are made from a single year, crafted to express the unique nature of one year and one terroir.

Strictly monitored by the cognac authorities, these cognacs stand out for their safeguarded cellaring and provenance. No other cognacs receive this level of scrutiny, a testament to their rarity and exceptional character. Aged 30 years in oak, Millésime 1995 reveals beautiful aromas of dried fruits, rancio and elegant spices.

Cognac in its purest expression: natural colour and no added sugar.

Description

Tasting notes by Charles BRAASTAD, Cellar Master :

Nose : notes of fig, quince and delicate lime blossom, with hints of chocolate and supple leather.

Palate : notes of very ripe cherry enhanced by a slight minty freshness, chocolate and a hint of white pepper.

Style : Round, wonderfully structured and elegant.

Terroir : Situated on a geological fault, at the highest point of the hamlet, the vineyards benefits from exceptional conditions, with particularly long roots reaching deep into the limestone subsoil to obtain the nutrients essential for its development.

The sun shone brightly in 1995, and the vines benefited from a particularly warm spring. The heat continued throughout the summer, with sufficient rainfall to produce concentrated grapes. This excellent harvest produced a wine with great acidity, giving an eau-de-vie with remarkable ageing potential.

Ageing : Aged in French old oak barrels, limiting the influence of tannins, the 1995 vintage spent its first 20 years in a vintage cellar in Ambleville, under lock and key and under the watchful eye of the winemaker.
Selected in 2015, it was then transferred to the vintage cellar of Delamain House in Jarnac, a few meters from the Charente. There, it continued to evolve, benefiting from an optimal natural level of humidity and a low rate of evaporation, favouring the concentration of its aromas.

Natural colour, no added sugar.
